In the previous articles, I have introduced Katalon Studio.
In this article, I am going to practically explain the steps for downloading the Katalon Studio.
Let’s get started.
Katalon Studio – Downloading, Launching and Getting Started
Following are the steps for downloading and launching the Katalon Studio:
1) Open https://www.katalon.com/download/ in any browser say chrome and observe that you will be redirected to Sign Up page as shown below:
2) On entering the required details in the above screen and clicking on ‘Sign up’ button, you will be redirected to the ‘Thanks for downloading Katalon Studio’ page and ‘Katalon Studio’ will be automatically downloaded as shown below:
Note: A suitable version for your system will be automatically detected and recommended for download.
3) Extract the above downloaded ZIP file as shown below:
4) Open the extracted folder as shown below:
5) Double click on the ‘katlon.exe’ file inside the extracted folder:
6) Observe that the Katalon Studio will start launching by displaying the below Splash Screen:
7) You will also get a ‘Windows Security Alert’, where you need to simply click on ‘Allow access’ button as shown below:
8) Katalon Studio will launch and you will see the below ‘Katalon Studio Activation’ screen as shown below:
9) Enter the Email address and Password that you have entered in the Step 2 as part of the Sign Up process and click on ‘Activate’ button on the above dialog. Observe that the below ‘Welcome’ dialog will be displayed:
10) Click on ‘Create new project’ in the above welcome screen or later select ‘File’ > ‘New’ > ‘Project’ as shown below to create a new project:
11) In the displayed ‘New Project’ dialog, enter Project name as ‘Demo’, change the location to store the project if required and click on ‘OK’ button as shown below:
12) Observe that the Project got opened in the Katalon Studio as shown below:
This is how, we can download, launch and get started with Katalon Studio.
13) As Katalon releases the new versions quite quickly, the new version may have bugs.
In this case, we may have to download and use the older versions.
In order to download the older versions of Katalon Studio, we have download them from https://github.com/katalon-studio/katalon-studio/releases
